Ahh Kerala..

Kerala...I remember 18 th of May,2001 when Rapti Sagar Express entered Palghat,i fell in love with this place..love at first sight you may say.No I was not on a trip to Kerala..I was going to my inlaws place for the first time with my Malyali husband,Dr.P.D.Subhash.Shoranoor is the first station when you board Rapti Sagar.Green, green and green..nothing else. The aroma will surely mesmerize you.
When I entered Kerala, the first snack I saw was yellow banana fritters, known as "Aitakyappam". Aitakya or banana, deep fried in coconut oil, rice powder coated and derive the yellow colour from turmeric powder added in the batter.Subhash couldn't control himself and jumped out of the compartment and came soon with two Aitakyaappams.Sweet with a dash of salt..ah..mouth is watering.Ihad never heard about a dish prepared by ripe bananas which is so simple and so tasty. But this was the beginning of my lifelong love for Kerala. There are many more things to explore. Now I often think that perhaps I love Kerala more than Subhash,my husband..thank God he is not around to read this...
